Vanilla Panna Cotta
Ingredients:
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 1/2 tsp unflavored gelatin powder
- 3 tbsp cold water
- Fresh berries or fruit sauce (for topping)
Instructions:
Bloom the gelatin: Sprinkle the gelatin over 3 tablespoons of cold water in a small bowl and let it sit for 5 minutes to bloom (soften).
Heat the cream mixture: In a saucepan, combine the heavy cream, milk, and sugar. Heat the mixture over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the sugar has dissolved and the mixture is warm (but not boiling).
Dissolve the gelatin: Add the bloomed gelatin to the warm cream mixture and stir until the gelatin has completely dissolved.
Add vanilla: Stir in the vanilla extract.
Set the panna cotta: Pour the mixture into serving glasses or molds and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or until set (overnight is ideal).
Serve: Once set, top with fresh berries or a fruit sauce of your choice before serving.
